Our Special Projects

Youth In Action

The Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Family Violence Prevention Council is committed to teaching young people how to stay safe. Their involvement is an important part of making communities safe now and for the future.

Learning through drama

LaSalle County Supporting Players are composed of high school drama troupes in LaSalle County high schools. Students receive professional drama training in November, where they create their own dramatic performances to warn teens of the dangers confronting them, then enact these drama sketches in middle and grade schools through the remaining school year.

Other projects

In October of 2009, in honor of October as Domestic Violence Awareness month, the Grundy County Community Awareness Committee brought a panel including a police officer, a victim advocate, a former victim and a rehabilitated former offender to speak to three high schools in Grundy County. This and other activities increases youth knowledge of interpersonal violence and provides them with information on area resources.

In 2010 the Council developed a "Bullying Prevention Essay Contest" kit that school districts could implement on their own. Click here to learn more.
